I had an incredible conversation with one of my new fb friends last evening. She was referred to me by her loan officer in Colorado who knew we are working on a bill in Congress. Two medical bills that are paid on her credit of $110 and $80 have lowered her scores from 750 to 650 and now on a jumbo loan, they have to put 60% down instead of 20% down. If you heard her story it would send chills all over your body.

The year before my child’s birth, I closed several small loans and was bulding a modest portfolio..once she was born with medical problems, our world came crashing down….

The system is broken. FICO came out on record and says “the way people pay their medical bills, predicts the ways they willl pay their other debts.”

How much closer are we to reality of having this bill put into place? It’s taken me 5 years, to go from 27 medical items on my credit report down to two. Just can’t get them off and it’s hurting my scores, preventing me from so many things. The scoring system out there sucks.

Over many years of volunteering with children who have cancer and getting to know their families, I’ve witnessed a dozen or more of these families end up filing for bankruptcy. The credit system is broken, completely off the track, and I’m hopeful your efforts will do something to get it remotely moving in the right direction if that is even possible, and I believe that with God all things are possible. Thanks for your posts, Rodney, they are informative and insightful.

The medical bills are the worse! Even if the service is bad? or if you didn’t get services paid for? There is no way to dispute?

She is not alone with the paid medical bill problem. So sad that $190 could ruin her life!
