IT’S ABOUT TIME!!!
Posted on May 27th, 2009 3 commentsLegislation is out for the Credit Card industry and it looks like some major (good) changes are about to take place.
- Credit card companies cannot increase rates on balances until you are at least 30 days late
- Possibility of your interest rates to lower with 6 months of on-time payments
- You will receive a 45 day notice prior to an interest rate hike
- You will receive your bill 21 days prior to your due payment (no longer 14 days)
- The due date deadline will be at 5 p.m. instead of early morning when mail hasn’t arrived
- No more late fees for due dates on Sundays or holidays
- Anything above the minimum payment will be applied to the highest interest rate on a card
- You will have to opt in prior to having a balance over the limit (no more non-consensual $39 over the limit fees)
- You will not be able to get a credit card under the age of 21 (exceptions apply)
